Meet Our Coaches

Laura DuBois, MA

Hi there! Let me introduce myself! My name is Laura, and I’m so very happy to be collaborating with Surviving Breast Cancer and being part of the Speaker Bureau! Look around at this amazing website and you’ll find a ton of resources and support, and I know you’ll find the energy here to be as positive as I do! The support here is LIT and LEGIT!

Having a support system is SO important in life. And especially when life throws you a curveball. When a woman learns she has breast cancer, it’s such a personal thing. Some of us turn inward for a while. It’s imperative to take the time you need to grieve, process, and integrate this new layer of you called cancer. But don’t stay down for long! Because along the way you’ll meet some amazing others who will become your new support system - either they’ve been through it or they are the helpers in your path. I happen to be both! I’m a Certified Transformational Health & Life Coach. And I’m also your pink sister who has been there.  As your Coach, I empower you out of stuck and overwhelm and into ACTION in your recovery after treatment.

When you are going through the transformation of breast cancer recovery, with all of its physical and emotional challenges - it’s messy, it’s gritty, it’s hard, and it’s painful. Even though you keenly want to restore your whole health and are completely capable of creating this new you, it’s very common (and normal!) to get stuck in gear. “Where do I start?” is a common question, with an undertow of apprehension and fear that you’ll do the wrong thing. First of all, it’s not your fault!

This is your background brain trying to protect you from yet more change, even though your rational brain knows this is exactly what you must do. THIS is when a Coach can REALLY help you step out of that so you can move forward, confidently, with a system, support, and accountability.

I myself had a Coach during my recovery, and my experience inspired me to become a Health Coach! As someone who’s been a Physical Therapist for over 20 years, I was very familiar with the physical side of recovery, or what I refer to as ‘the outer game.’ What coaching did for me was to help me up level my mindset, transform my limiting beliefs, and forgive myself for abusing my body in the decade prior to my diagnosis. This is what I refer to as ‘the inner game.’

My being up against the wall for years and years prior to diagnosis, in terms of stress, lifestyle, nutrition and overall self-care, I truly believe contributed to my body being a growing ground for cancer. I’m stoked to say I have successfully changed all that! I got myself back on track, and I fully intend to live healthfully, in all aspects of life, to beyond 100% !

I can see in hindsight that how I’d been managing my life and my health were not serving me. I had been burning the candle at both ends for much too long! My motivation for becoming a Coach was and is to help prevent others from creating the conditions that I did, that allowed illness to fester. And there is a very special place in my practice for women coming back from breast cancer, because Ladies, we need to lift each other up! Let’s do WELLNESS instead!

I look forward to meeting you at future events! In the meantime, you can find me here:

After being diagnosed with breast cancer I felt like there was a deeper purpose or meaning why this was happening to me. I have gone thru tough times in the past however this was by far the hardest thing I’ve had to endure so far in this life. I thought if I make it thru this I have the responsibility to help others in same position. I shared my journey with family and friends

on social media and was amazed by the amount of love and encouragement I got, the more responses I received the more strength I got to keep fighting.

I got my certifications so that I’m able to help others especially cancer fighters get thru their journey with a calmer mind and spirit by using tools that can help you live a better life despite the circumstances and things we can’t control.

I look forward in keeping you motivated to pursue your passions and dreams.  As your coach I will provide you with tools that helps you create long term results.

Sessions will be available via phone, skype or in person. Payments can be via PayPal, venmo and cashapp

Andrea Magni, MA

My journey with Breast Cancer is 22 years long. I met my best friend after she’d had her mastectomy and remember being so inspired by her and so grateful that she was well that I supported every breast cancer walk or charity event she ever did.  I was so grateful to the breast cancer community for saving her life.

10 years ago I became a supporter and patron of the PinkDrive charity organization: a breast cancer mobile mammography team that offered checks to the medically uninsured of South Africa.

6 years ago my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a lumpectomy and breast reduction and lift.  She was clear for a while but her cancer metastasized to her spine and an opportunistic infection during radiation caused her to have a massive coronary from which she never recovered and died a week later in hospital.

My October birthday is in Breast Cancer awareness month and my annual breast checks. In

October after my mom died I went for a mammogram and ultrasound.  They found a cyst but nothing else and advised that it would go away. I knew something about that diagnosis did not fit how I felt even though I could not feel any lumps. I called my mom’s breast surgeon and she referred me to someone new. It took months to get the appointment (also delayed by my Gran’s death) and January 18, 2017 I was diagnosed with 3 DCIS independent tumors on my right breast. I always knew I would choose radical treatment in my 22 years of watching women bargain for another day with loved ones.

I had my lymph biopsy on Valentine’s Day.  Fortunately the biopsy was clear. On Feb 28, 2017 I had a double mastectomy and reconstruction. I now live on Tamoxifen.

I love my 2.0s and always feel that I am one of the luckiest people I have met on this journey.  I know that can change any day and live my life wholeheartedly and genuinely.

They say everyone gets two lives. The second starts the moment they discover they only had the one.

I left my role as a COO for a large British and South African fulfilment company and moved from South Africa to Boston, MA and resettled my family. I spend more time with my children. I have a degree in psychology and decided to become a life and executive coach. I have loved every moment of helping individuals become who they want to be. I am a diversity coach and help organizations prepare for diversity, individuals access their potential.  I am passionate about women being more represented in business at every level and run a mentor program for younger women to seek advice from a more experienced business women one or two degrees of separation from them.

I have hosted detailed transformative Vision Boarding days for 7 years and am amazed each time by the powerful changes that come from this.

I am volunteering with the Surviving Breast Cancer organization and hoping to bring some expertise and abilities to the table.
