Health and fitness has always been apart of who I am. For decades I have practiced yoga, enjoyed running, hiking, biking, swimming and weight training. I followed a vegan diet and thought I was in the best shape of my life, that is, until I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
I have undergone chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, and hormonal therapies, and noticed that the real trauma from a cancer diagnosis came after I completed my active treatment.
Understanding my own health and wellness not only became my top priority, but it became my full-time job. Managing one’s health isn’t something that you do 3 days a week. It is a commitment to one’s self and a life-style choice. Every workout matters and every meal counts.
I began to see food as my medicine and understood that this was an opportunity for me to take back control of my life. Without hesitation, I became a Beachbody coach.
I was nervous about going to the gym with a compromised immune system and the at home streaming workout videos allowed me to work out in the comfort and privacy of my own home. Becoming a coach actually saved me money too when purchasing. Coaching is something I do part-time and the funding I receive as a coach is invested back into my organization, survivingbreastcancer.org.
