Surviving Breast Cancer

I didn’t know WHAT I was supposed to do. It was all very scary and confusing but I knew I wanted the cancer out of my body! 

Defensive pessimism is when someone anticipates a high-stakes outcome — like cancer test results — and mentally assumes the worst on purpose. This is not because people want bad news. But because certainty, even painful certainty, can feel safer than hope.
